IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie "Gene"
Totty
October 1, 1943 – December 27, 2024
Willie "Gene" Totty, 81 of Springdale joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven, December 27, 2024 with family by his side. He was born October 1,1943 in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Norval (N.F.) and Leta Mae Totty. After graduating from high school in Petersburg, TX, Gene moved with his parents to Springdale where he met his wife, Carolyn. They married on June 22,1963 and had 3 children: Rhonda, Paul, and Lacy. Gene and Carolyn were saved at Elmdale Baptist Church where he was a long-time member and served as a deacon. Gene went to work for the Springdale Post Office and retired after 32 years of service. He and Carolyn also owned and operated Totty's Minit Stop for 9 years where he always enjoyed visiting with people. He still wanted to keep busy and went to Har-Ber High School when it opened for 9 years working maintenance.
Gene touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his kind heart, his unwavering support, and his sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, Josie. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and doing projects around the house. He was always a Mr. Fix-It and loved tinkering with old cars. He enjoyed attending church and especially going out to eat lunch afterwards with his harem of ladies. Traveling to India on mission trips to spread the gospel was always special to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Totty, his 3 children and their families: Rhonda Totty and her son Chris Netherton and wife Christina and their children Millie & Ellie; Paul Totty and Lisa and his son, Jonathan Totty and wife Catie and their children Alexandra & Charles of Naperville, IL; Lacy Anglin and husband Brandon and their children Braxton & Cooper; and sister, Joyce Holley of Boerne, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Although dementia gradually took away his memory, it never diminished his spirit. In the years following his diagnosis, Gene exhibited remarkable strength, resilience, and a quiet grace. Even in the most challenging moments, he never stopped showing love to his family, and his presence will always be cherished. He is now at peace, free from the confusion and frustration that came with his illness.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, January 2,2025 at 2:00 pm at Elmdale Baptist Church with Brother Billy Chidester officiating. Burial to follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm till service time on Thursday at Elmdale Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Memorial Fuenral Home of Springdale, AR.
The family requests donations be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd, Springdale, AR 72762 or Elmdale Baptist Church in his memory.
While dementia may have taken some of his memories, the love and lessons he imparted to us will remain forever. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his faith, love, strength, and the wisdom he imparted to all who knew him.
