Virgil Lee Moore, 86, of Elm Springs, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord July 12, 2019 in Springdale. He was born December 26, 1932 in Porum, Oklahoma, the son of Trumon and Empire Thompson Moore. He was a horse trainer for many years, training some top roping horses, including world champion Jr. calf roping horses and reserve Sr. calf roping horses in the AQHA, making several AQHA champions. Virgil was past president of the Arkansas Team Roping Association and team roping director of the Sr. Pro Rodeo Association. He also won several yearend awards in team roping in the SPRA. He was an AQHA approved Judge for many years, judging shows in the United States and in Canada. He was a current member of the USTRA All-Star Team Roping, winning two shootouts for this year. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rondal Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene Snavely Moore of the home; sons, Weldon Moore and his wife Nila of Clarksville, Arkansas, Lane Moore and his wife Charity of Elm Springs, Arkansas; daughters, Diann Stines and her husband Dennis of Prior, Oklahoma, Dee Robinson and her husband Henry of Elm Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren, John Mark Reddish, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Ty Moore and his wife Sunny of Charleston, Arkansas, Nick Moore and his wife Laura of Carthage, Missouri, Chad Stines of Lincoln, Arkansas, Danyel Moore of Elm Springs, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Chyeann Johnson and her husband Ryan of Pryor, Oklahoma, Lucas Moore of Russellville, Arkansas, Wess Moore and Malory Moore of Carthage Missouri, Nevaeh Stines of Russellville, Arkansas, Chance Stines and Chase Stines of Russellville, Arkansas; great greatgrandchildren, Bailey Johnson, Braxton Johnson and Bridgett Johnson of Prior, Oklahoma and Aubry Stines of Russellville, Arkansas.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Elm Springs Cemetery with Brother Glenn Trusty, Brother Hank Kilgore and Brother Clayton Moore officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Elm Springs United Methodist Church, 118 N. Elm Street, Elm Springs, Arkansas 72728. Pallbearers will be Ty Moore, Nick Moore, Wess Moore, Lucas Moore, John Mark Reddish, Jr. and Chad Stines. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Easley, Troy Thompson, Dale Simpson, Dusty Thomas, Mike Jones, Harlan Mott, Jeff Fields and Tim Scott.
Family request that memorials be made to a Memorial Fund at First Security Bank in Springdale in his name. The fund is managed by Billy Easley and Te'neyl Hagnan.
