Obituary

Vanda “Woody” Dean Lyman, of Elm Springs, Arkansas, went to his heavenly home on May 17, 2026, at the age of 89. Woody was born on July 24, 1936, to Norris and Anna Dale Lyman in Pritchett, Colorado. From an early age, he carried with him the values that would define his life: faith in Jesus Christ, hard work, responsibility, devotion to family, and a steady commitment to doing things the right way. Though life took him many places, Woody never lost his deep love for Colorado—its wide‑open landscapes, its mountains, and the sunrises and sunsets that always felt like home to him.

Woody built a long and respected career in business, working with International Harvester in several cities throughout his professional life. His work took him across the United States and allowed him to form lasting relationships grounded in integrity and dedication. In 1956, Woody married Janet Loraine Tucker, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, perseverance, and love. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Those who knew him will remember his strength, his steady presence, his practical wisdom, and the way he expressed love through loyalty, and unwavering dependability. In 1981, Woody opened Sherwood True Value, a business that became an important part of his life and a reflection of his strong work ethic. He took great pride in serving people, solving problems, and building something meaningful through honest work and dependable service. Woody was a longtime member of Harmon Bible Church in Tontitown, Arkansas, where his faith, service, and steady spirit were deeply appreciated by those who worshiped alongside him. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling the country, woodworking, and spending time in his shop. These passions reflected his appreciation for nature, craftsmanship, and the simple joys of life. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the example he set, and the many lives he touched along the way. Woody is preceded in death by Janet Lyman (wife), Kimberlynn Phipps (daughter), Richard Lyman (brother), Marjorie Richards (sister), and Betty Price (sister).

Woody is survived by sons, Curtis Lyman of Sherwood, Arkansas, Mike Lyman and his wife, Cindy, of Tontitown, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Norris Lyman and his wife, Rosa, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Brianna Riccardi and her husband, T.J. of Arvada, Colorado, Michael Lyman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Ashley Lyman and her husband, Gwanghoon, of Seoul, South Korea; and 4 great-grandchildren: Siena, Collins, Capri, and Raylynn.

A celebration of life will be at Harmon Bible Church, Tontitown, AR on July 11, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. Donations can be made to Harmon Bible Church in her name.
