Thomas Victor Hughes Jr., also known as Tommy, passed away on April 12th, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on April 23rd, 1939, in Kingsland, Arkansas to Thomas Victor Hughes Sr. and Elizabeth Jane McCullough. Tommy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Tommy was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School in Watson Chapel, Arkansas. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1961 and a Master's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas in 1964.

Tommy married his high school sweetheart, Cecilia Ann Hanna, on July 5th, 1958, at Sulphur Springs Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas. They were happily married for 64 years and had three children together: Rebecca Ann Hughes Barnum, John Thomas Hughes, and James Alan Hughes. Tommy was also a proud grandfather to seven grandsons, who affectionately called him "Papaw". He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Throughout his career, Tommy worked as a high school chemistry teacher, plant manager, and even owned his own company for several years. He was a hardworking and dedicated individual who always put his family first.

Outside of work, Tommy had a variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed spending time in his workshop, creating beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. He was also passionate about gardening and grew a variety of vegetables in his backyard.

Tommy was known for his quiet and gentle demeanor. He was a man of few words but always had a kind heart and a loyal spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Cecilia Ann Hughes, his children, grandchildren Colton, Dalton and Tanner Barnum, Isaac and Benjamin Hughes, Jonathan and Jacob Hughes and his brother, James Hughes.   Rest in peace, Tommy, and may your memory live on forever in the hearts of those who loved you.
