Silas Donald smith was born June 29, 1934, at Upton, Wyoming, the son of Silas Joseph and Flora (Vinzant) Smith. They moved from Wyoming to Southwest City, Missouri when he was 6 years old. Sie attended a country school at Saratoga Springs his first 8 years and graduated from Southwest High School in 1952. On May 17, 1953, he was united in marriage to Isabel Slaven.
Being a "Jack-of-all-trades", and with a sense of adventure, Sie worked at many different jobs and lived in many different states. He was most content with farming.
Sie is survived by his wife, Isabel, of the home, 4 daughters: Kathy Seratt and husband Jim of Wagoner, OK, Louise Belue and husband Greg of Springdale, AR, Karen Koogler and husband Jeff of Springdale, AR, and Nancy Franz of West Plains, MO. 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is survived by 1 brother, Henry Smith of Moscow, KS and 1 sister, Flora May Phillips of Joplin, MO. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jack, Jim and John Smith and 1 sister, Rhoda McArthur.
