Obituary

Sheryl Ann “Sherry” Myrtue, an 80-year-old resident of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on April 14th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Sherry was born on April 12, 1946, in Kimballton, Iowa, to Gerald “Shorty” and Shirley Nelsen. She was raised in Northwest Iowa, where she built the foundation of a life centered on family, creativity, and hard work. On February 4, 1965, Sherry married the love of her life, Jerry A. Myrtue. Following their marriage, they made their home in Northwest Missouri, where they raised their family and created a life filled with love and dedication. Sherry was a talented seamstress who turned her passion into a small sewing shop in Maryville, Missouri. She was well known for her craftsmanship and attention to detail, and her work was featured in multiple retail stores, including Von Maur and Michaels. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the Midwest, showcasing her work at craft shows. Her creativity and skill left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Above all, Sherry was a devoted mother and grandmother. She found her greatest joy in caring for her family, and her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her daughters, Dawny Black and her husband Tim of Springdale, Arkansas, and Jerri Myrtue of Springdale, Arkansas; her son, Kris Myrtue and his wife Amy of Hillsdale, Illinois; her grandchildren, Johnathon Zimmerman and his wife Lora of Seligman, Missouri, Ryan Black and his wife Courtney of Springdale, Arkansas, Lindsey Black Plew of Springdale, Arkansas, Tyler Aronson of Erie, Illinois, Hunter Myrtue of Hillsdale, Illinois, and Tanner Myrtue of Hillsdale, Illinois; and her great-grandchildren, K’Lynne Zimmerman and Kira Zimmerman of Seligman, Missouri, Brantley Plew of Springdale, Arkansas, London Black, Taylor Black, and Peyton Black, all of Springdale, Arkansas; her sisters, Connie Jorgenson of Clarinda, Iowa and Jackie Marquart of Marysville, California.

Sherry will be remembered for her kindness, her strong work ethic, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her family.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home with a private family Memorial Service.
