Mary Jean Shupe Dezman, 88, of Oroville, California, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she had resided for the past year with her daughter. She courageously faced her battle with dementia with grace and dignity. Born on February 5, 1938, in Missoula, Montana, Mary was the daughter of Melbourne Shupe and Grace Chaffin Carroll. Mary found joy in life's simple pleasures in tending to her flowers, traveling to new places, playing Bingo with friends, and creating cherished memories with those she loved. Her loyal dogs were constant companions, each holding a special place in her heart. Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Maria Williams of Springdale, AR; her sons Gary Jenkins and wife Vivian of Oroville, CA, and Guy Steel and wife Sonya of Camp Verde, AZ; her brother Pete Carroll and wife Judy of Richland, WA; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She cherished all her cousins and was blessed with many dear friends; she never met a stranger.

We will miss her terribly but take comfort knowing she is now in the arms of Heavenly Father and reunited with her loved ones. We are eternally grateful for the best mother ever. Per her request there will be no services. Her interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville, CA.
