Lydia Marie McGuire (Thomas) (Rorie) passed from this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the age of 59. She was born September 7, 1960 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the youngest of five children to the late Raymond W. and Verna Nickens McGuire. Lydia spent her school years in Little Rock, graduating from Little Rock Central High where she was active in Choir, something she continued throughout her life. At University of Arkansas in Little Rock she majored in Accounting. Lydia had the opportunity to live in several areas during her life, including Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle prior to moving back to Arkansas. While in Seattle she had the opportunity to work in the recording industry and was the booking manager for several popular local bands. Lydia appreciated her Native American heritage and actively participated in numerous Pow Wow gatherings over the years in the Pacific Northwest, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas; often being chosen for the honored position of Head Lady Dancer of the event. Even though she thoroughly enjoyed the world of music and entertainment, her chosen employment path was in payroll management and Human Resources. Lydia was employed as Manager of Payroll and Benefits at Slim Chickens at the time of her death.
Lydia is survived by her children, Jerry Thomas (Angelia) McGuire of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lindsey Michelle Rorie(Joshua) Richard of Virginia; grandchildren Lydia Richard and Cooper Ryan Walker; great grandchild Brooklyn Rein Taylor; sisters, Evelyn (Willie) Jackson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Carolyn Williams of Prairieville, Louisiana; brothers, Raymond (Mari) McGuire of Little Rock, Arkansas, Thomas McGuire of Little Rock, Arkansas; aunts, Bessie Smith of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Alice Kent of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Barbara Nickens of Prairieville, Louisiana; nephews Bernard (Gretchen) Sulliban III of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Christian Weiss of Germany, Ephraim McGuire of Dallas, Texas; nieces Carol Price of Prairieville, Louisiana, Leoncia (Mike) Sulliban- Pense of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Carrie (Bret) Henderson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Heather McGuire and Christina Weiss of Germany and many cousins, great nephews and great nieces.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, from 2-6 pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale, Arkansas 72762. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, July 17, 2020 at Brannon Mountain Community Church cemetery, 2697 Madison CR 4035, (Arkansas Highway 295) Elkins, AR.
