Obituary

Lawrence Lee Thompson, III, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven September 15, 2024. Larry was born September 20, 1958 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Lawrence Lee Thompson, MD, and Ellen Jacquilene Combs Thompson. The family resided in Little Rock along with his three older sisters. Larry was confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where he was an acolyte under the tutelage of Dean Charles Ashley Higgins.  Larry graduated from Catholic High School for Boys Little Rock, Class of 77, where he played football. Growing up he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in the woods and on the water at Lake Ouachita.

During his adulthood, he and his spouse owned and operated a delicatessen in Kansas City. MO - transferring his skills learned while in high school working for and smoking meats at Terri Lynn's Delicatessen in Little Rock.   He had a long career in the food sector at both the brokerage and sales level.  He also sold construction equipment and tools.  He was a born people person who made friends quickly and easily and built lasting and endearing personal and professional relationships. Larry loved God, family, and country, in that order. Country being followed closely by the Doobie Brothers (he may very well hold the record for most Doobie Brothers concerts attended by a single individual), the Arkansas Razorbacks, and playing darts and trivia. He loved to cook.  All of these loves he shared widely and proudly with his family and friends.

Larry's pride and joy were his three children, Lawrence Lee Thompson, IV, Angela Renee Smith, Austin Bullett Thompson (Erika), and his 4 grandsons, Lawrence Lee Thompson, V, Robert Whitten Smith, Asher Dean Thompson, and Lincoln Bullett Thompson. He is also survived by his sisters, Jan Chastain (Larry), and Melissa Harrison (David), brother-in-law Pat Millwee, numerous nieces and nephews, and his lifelong best friend Jimbo Woods. He is predeceased by his sister Rebecca Millwee and his special friend Holly Dabbs Whitcombe.

Private memorial services will be held at Mountain Harbor Resort on Lake Ouachita on Sunday September 22nd. The family will be making memorial contributions in Larry's name to Catholic High School in Little Rock if you would like to make a donation in his name.
