Jonathan Thomas Smart was born on February 18, 1994 in Hanford, CA to Gilbert and Mari Smart. He passed away in Phoenix, AZ on April 3' 2018 as the result of a traffic accident. Jon is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Mari Smart, and his brother, Christopher Smart, of Springdale, AR; his grandfather, Robert Elliott, Sr., of Modesto, CA; and his grandmother, Delores Dunlap, of Lompoc, CA, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves behind his shipmates, classmates, and friends.

Jon lived, and grew up, in the Island District of Lemoore in rural Kings County, CA. That was his home for the first 17 years of his life. His family moved to Northwest Arkansas and Jon graduated from Springdale High School in 2012. Jon made the decision to serve his country and he joined the US Navy. After a winter at Great Lakes, IL for Recruit Training, he went off to see the world. He joined the USS Rushmore in the Persian Gulf, and they were then off to Hong Kong and Hawaii. Jon spent the remainder of his Navy years in San Diego. Jon was ready to begin his civilian life after his four year stint, and he knew what he wanted to do. In 2016 Jon enrolled in MMI in Phoenix, AZ and began training for his career as a motorcycle mechanic. Upon his anticipated graduation this summer, Jon had planned on joining his family in Springdale, AR and beginning his career. We don't know why, but the Lord had a need for Jon elsewhere.

Funeral service will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home
Jonathan will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 11 2018 in Fayetteville, AR at Fayetteville National Cemetery at 1:00PM.
