Jon Eric Robertson, 83, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026.Born on October 28, 1942, in Berwyn, Illinois, to Winifred and Floyd Robertson, Jon lived a life defined by service, curiosity, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He proudly served in the United States Navy before earning his Master of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. He spent his career as an economist with the Arkansas Highway Department while also serving for many years as a Captain with the Wheeler Fire Department—a combination that meant he could solve problems with both spreadsheets and fire trucks.

Jon never met a book that was too long. In fact, the thicker the book, the happier he was. If a novel could double as a doorstop, it had a good chance of making it onto his reading list. He loved getting lost in a good story and believed there was always something new to learn.His love of nature shaped much of his life. Whether he was hiking, sailing, flying gliders, or simply spending time outdoors, Jon was happiest under an open sky. The wind was a constant thread throughout his life—filling the sails of his boat, lifting his glider, and carrying him toward the adventures he loved. It reflected the quiet freedom he found in the natural world and the simple joy of following wherever the breeze might lead.

One of Jon’s proudest accomplishments was building a log cabin with his own two hands. More than just a home, it became the project of a lifetime—a place he maintained and where family gathered for years. While building it, Jon often said he felt like Thoreau living out the pages of Walden, embracing a quieter, simpler, and more deliberate way of life.

Jon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Robertson, and his brother, Jim Robertson. He leaves behind two daughters, Amy Robertson-Gann (Alan) of Rogers, Arkansas, and Lisa Twitty (Lance) of Las Vegas, Nevada; his cherished granddaughter, Anna Claire Gann of Rogers; his brother, Bruce Robertson of Lubbock, Texas; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss his wisdom, steady presence, and unmistakable sense of adventure. Jon will be remembered for his quiet intelligence, his love of learning, his willingness to tackle ambitious projects, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He leaves behind countless memories—and enough books to keep the rest of us busy for quite a while.

A graveside service will take place Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:00 A.M., at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville Arkansas, with Pastor Clint Schnekloth officiating.
