The world lost a gentle giant on August 19, 2020. John Howard Wood was born May 17, 1961 to the late Donald and Meldean Wood.  A jovial person, John loved a good drive in rural Arkansas with the windows down and the classic rock up. He enjoyed teasing and laughter. Always one for a good joke, he sent a flurry of texts over the years to his daughters on the passing of various country music musicians and old television actors, who often had never even heard of these people. His last one was Charlie Daniels. He was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving six years active duty and another six years in the Naval Reserves. In his later years in life, he enjoyed nothing more than reconnecting with his old friends in and around Fayetteville and attending the meet-ups the West Fork alumni hold every year. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. The world is a little darker with his presence gone.

He is lovingly survived by four daughters: Julia Wood and son-in-law Heath Robinson, of the home, Jessica Wood, of Springdale, AR; Olivia Wood, of Rogers, AR, and Alesandra Wood, of Fayetteville, AR, as well as 7 grandcats spread amongst the homes.  He is also survived by younger siblings Gerald Wood, of Fayetteville, AR and Melinda Wood Dunlap and husband Oren Dunlap, also of Fayetteville, AR as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be at Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland, AR.  Arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale, Arkansas 72762
