Jerry Alan Myrtue, an 81-year-old resident of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on June 11, 2025. He was born on September 15, 1943, to Willis and Thelma Myrtue in Harlan, Iowa and was a native of Northwest Missouri. Jerry had a distinguished career as an industrial engineer for over 30 years, with expertise in drafting, metal fabrication, and welding. He was extremely talented "a jack of all trades", enjoying welding, woodworking, drawing/painting, and loved storytelling. Jerry was passionate and a perfectionist in everything he did. He authored and illustrated "Life on the Trap Line," a book that demonstrates his extensive expertise in trapping, with self-drawn illustrations from his experiences on the trapline.

Jerry has previously been recognized by Guinness World Records for his achievement in constructing the largest weathervane in the world.  He had a passion for outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and foraging for mushrooms.  Jerry dedicated time to teaching and coaching local students, always eager to share his knowledge. Being with Jerry was always enriching due to his wealth of knowledge and insight. Everyone admired his love for singing Johnny Cash songs.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sherri Myrtue; daughters, Dawny Black and her husband, Tim, of Springdale, Jerri Myrtue of Springdale; son, Kris Myrtue and his wife, Amy, of Hillsdale, Illinois; grandchildren, Johnathon Zimmerman and his wife, Lora, of Seligman, Missouri, Ryan Black and his wife, Courtney, of Springdale, Lindsey Black Plew of Springdale, Tyler Aronson of Erie, Illinois, Hunter Myrtue of Hillsdale, Illinois, Tanner Myrtue of Hillsdale, Illinois; great-grandchildren, K'Lynne Zimmerman of Seligman, Missouri, Kira Zimmerman of Seligman, Missouri, Brantley Plew of Springdale, London Black, of Springdale, Taylor Black of Springdale, and Peyton Black, of Springdale, Arkansas.

He leaves behind a legacy of ingenuity, generosity, and a life well-lived.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
