James D. Crisp, 89 of Springdale died Saturday, October 31, 2020 in Springdale. He was born January 14, 1931 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky the son of Bennie Crisp and Carrie Smith Crisp. He graduated from Charleston High School in Kentucky in the class of 1948. He enlisted in the United States Navy on January 21, 1949 where he served for 23 years retiring in 1972 with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. In 1977 he moved to Springdale, Arkansas with his wife, Ruth, and daughter, Kellie, where he worked at Northwest Vocational Technical Institute for almost fifteen years in the maintenance department until he retired. He was a born again baptized Christian and attended church regularly as long as his health allowed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by two sisters Ruby Kinder and Ruth Christie all of Dawson Springs, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Naomi Ruth McCurter Crisp, of the home; one son, Terry Crisp and his wife, Mary Ellen, of New Bern, North Carolina; one daughter, Kellie Cantu and her husband, Junior, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; and five grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy, Phillip, Celia, and Jade.
Funeral service will be Monday, November 9, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Williowood Avenue, Springdale, Arkansas 72762 with Pastor Zach Stachey officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home
