Harold Eugene Kooyman passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born July 5, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Harold and Viola Kooyman (Landon). They moved to Huron, South Dakota when he was 5, he attended St.  Martins Catholic School until the Eighth grade. He graduated from Huron Senior High School in 1955. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and underwent basic training in Oakland, California at Travis Air Force Base. Harold was then stationed in South Korea near the DMZ for a year and a half where he worked descrambling coded messages. Prior to Harold's honorable discharge from the Air Force, he married Deanna Mae Erickson in 1961 at St Martins church in Huron, S. Dakota. and began working for the State Department in Washington DC until the spring of 1963. Harold and Deanna had four sons. Harold enjoyed hunting and playing golf in his spare time.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and only sister, Shirley Lambert. He is survived by his sons, Greg Kooyman of Jacksonville, FL, Robert Kooyman, of Fayetteville, AR, Steve Kooyman and his wife, Joanne, of Chandler, AZ, Clark Kooyman and his wife, Melissa, of Rapid City, SD; eight grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other family, friends, and loved ones.
