Gregory R. Nelson, 57, of Springdale, Arkansas, died June 26, 2018 after battling lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.  He was born March 10, 1961 in Dallas, Texas to Robert H. and Joanne M. (Schaaf) Nelson.  He was a 1979 graduate of Winnetonka High School in Kansas City, Missouri. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 707 in Kansas City, he was an Eagle Scout and a Warrior in the honorary Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He served in the U.S. Air Force, 1980-1986, in England, New Mexico and Arkansas.  Greg was a member of Spring Creek Fellowship Church. He was handy with all things mechanical. Always smiling, he never met a stranger or missed a chance to help someone in need. He loved working on cars, fishing and telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean Marie (Fasching) Nelson, daughters Bethany M. (and Jeremy) Wilson, Kathryn M. Nelson (and fiancé Jacob Froese,) and Haley N. Nelson; father, Robert H. Nelson, and siblings Kenneth E. (Sandy) Nelson, Leonard E. (Jean) Nelson, Dennis E. Nelson, Sharon M. (Vincent) Collet, and Diane E. (Scott) Ooton.

Memorial services will be at 1:30PM, Friday, August 3, 2018 at Spring Creek Fellowship, 2120 W Emma Ave, Springdale, AR 72762 with Pastor Rick Grace officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Interment was in Fayetteville National Cemetery by Memorial Funeral Home.
