Everette Herman Hoins, 91, of Farmington, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord May 17, 2023 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born January 17, 1932, in Thayer County, Nebraska, the son of the late Albert George and Frieda Doretta Ahrens Hoins. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on May 24, 1949 and advanced to Warrant Officer and eventually to Commissioned Officer (Lieutenant) before retiring on August 31, 1974 after serving 25 years, 3 months and 7 days. During retirement he worked for a number of years at Ozark Guidance Center. He was a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lowell, Arkansas. He loved bowling, gardening, watching baseball, traveling and playing games and spending time with his family. He is preceded by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Rita Barras Hoins, who he married on July 6, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He is survived by four children: Brian Hoins (Christy) of Virginia; Becky Wittman (Craig) of Virginia; Lorena Fuqua (Charlie) of Arkansas; and Kay Giardino (Frank) of Arkansas; one brother, Wendell Hoins, of Nebraska; two sisters: Leola Westendorf of Iowa and Nancy Creekmore of Alabama; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 415 North 6th Place, Lowell, Arkansas 72745 with Pastor Charles Huebner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale, Arkansas 72762. Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Hoins, Chris Kohler, Joseph Benedict, Brian Cassidy, Carl Braach, Taylor Ashley, Marcel Rindt and Adrian Guerrero.
