Edith (Edie) Jean Smith Clay Hamann, 77, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, went to her eternal home December 24, 2020 at the Willard Walker Hospice House. She was born May 31, 1943 in Star City, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Elbert Claude and Selmar Murine Smith. Edie married her first husband, William T. Clay, Sr. and later married Duane Hamann on July 28, 1989 to whom she was married until his death, October 14, 2018. She enjoyed painting and drawing and was very active in her community and churches throughout the years. She was very witty and loved to make people laugh and she never met a stranger. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee and she loved the Lord and sharing his joy and love to everyone. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, William Thomas Clay, Jr; brother, Edwin Smith and grandson, William Duane Clay.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Doeksen and husband, William, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Sheri Rieff and husband, James, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; brother, Tommy Lynn Smith and his wife, Brenda; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. The family request that donations be made to Willard Walker Hospice House, 325 E. Longview Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703.
