Derrald "Dan" Lewis proudly served his country for 20 years in the US Coast Guard as a radio airman. During his service Dan moved his family to many interesting places, including Annette Island Alaska where he spent a year and a half in semi-isolated duty. While stationed in Memphis Tennessee he worked as an instructor for airman apprentice. Dan was also involved in reconnaissance missions during the Cuban Missile crisis while stationed in Florida.

After his retirement from the Coast Guard, he moved his family to Fayetteville Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas where he earned his business degree. Dan was an avid enthusiast of all things related to technology.  Whether it was tinkering with his home computer or building his own short-wave radio.  Dan's high-flying adventurous personality had him taking to the skies in his Piper Cherokee where he flew many places with his friends and family.  Dan also had a love for fishing and took many friends and family members on fishing trips to Canada, Alaska and Florida.  Dan loved the adventure of travel and traveled internationally and to almost every state in the United States.  During his retirement adventures he and Linda made many friends and spent time in Key West Florida and Mexico.

Dan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Lewis of the home; one son, Steve Lewis and his wife, Judy, of Lowell, Arkansas; one daughter, Stephanie Whiteman of Rogers, Arkansas; one stepdaughter, Lisa Robinson and her husband Chuck of Houston, Arkansas; one stepson Jarrett Jones of Anderson, Missouri; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
