Obituary

Debra Ann DuBois-Brinker was born March 21,1954 in Creston Iowa. She departed this life
February 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Kunzman, and her husband, Horst
Gustav Brinker.

Debra was a lover of life. She enjoyed many careers and adventures during her time in
Fayetteville. She moved to Fayetteville in 1975 for the second time and stayed. As she
managed a variety of jobs and responsibilities she kept her life active and her interests varied.
For many years she was a manager in retail in various businesses from formal wear to furniture
to clothing and even a stint for years as a late night DJ. She found her true calling in Massage
Therapy, especially Bowenwork and excelled in the profession for 20 years before beginning
her retirement to move to Taos, New Mexico with her husband Horst. She had discovered
weaving several years before and had found her niche in the creation of many rugs and works
of wool. Taos would suit them both as a dream come true for creative endeavors. She felt she
had found her "tribe" of like minded women and their families in the mountains of northern
New Mexico. Sadly, the move was not to happen as Horst passed unexpectedly in the
beginning of his retirement.

She loved New Mexico but it was here in her home on the grass air strip in Wedington Woods
that she truly enjoyed life. She was an avid pilot at one time, gardener, bird watcher,
accomplished weaver, knitter, and spinner. She loved her friends and most of all her animal
companions. She would do anything for those close to her and always lent a helping hand
whenever she was able. One of her biggest accomplishment in later life was going back to
college at the University of Arkansas in the Spring of 2021 after a 47 year hiatus from her
education. She truly wanted to take that dream to fruition. That was not to be. She spent the
last few years of her life researching her rare form of cancer and trying to convince others that
one should have the noble choice of choosing one's method of transition when all available
methods with modern medicine in treating Pancoast Syndrome cancer could not cure nor
would end the pain of this dreadful disease. She now joins her husband Horst and it is "Blue Skies and Tailwinds" from now on.
