IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence E.
English
October 28, 1941 – August 14, 2020
The Earth yielded to Heaven a great husband, father, leader, and Navy veteran on Friday, August 14, 2020. Clarence English, retired VA Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine Service; Navy Chief Warrant Officer (CW04) of 28 years; and Assemblies of God Minister, joined his Heavenly Father with his wife by his side. Clarence was born in Savannah, GA to Alphonso Washington English and Ruby Lee Jaudon English. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 and explored his impressive talents in skilled trades as a machinist. During his service to his country, he met Chaplain Stanford E. Linzey, who introduced him to his daughter, Gena May Linzey, who he dated and married. He attended San Diego State University and earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in Industrial Arts in 1974 and became a Manual Arts Therapist with the Veterans Administration. Clarence and his family settled in Conway, AR during his administration of Rehabilitation Medicine at the VA hospitals in Little Rock and North Little Rock. He thrived on working his 22-acre ranch in Conway, raising and training Clydesdales, spending time with his four sons, attending First Baptist Church of Conway, and serving the Lord. He was a member of the Arkansas Draft Horse and Mule Association, where his leadership contributed to the organization and where he pursued his love of horses and other farm animals. In his later years, Clarence served as the Care Pastor at Bella Vista Assembly of God Church, where he retired to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Clarence leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Gena May Linzey English, and his four sons of whom he was so proud: John, James, Joel, and Jesse. His family includes John and Karen English with children Katelyn and Zachary Hodges and grandchild Amellia, Rebecca and Kaleb Stalder, Sarah English, and John David English; Dr. James and Dr. LisaRenee English with children Amy and Nash Humphries and grandchildren Lillian and Van, Joshua and Jamie Duke with grandchildren Emily and Molly, Chelsea and Will Stevens, and Brennan Duke with grandchild Asher; Dr. Joel and Katherine English with children Caroline English and Luke English; and Jesse and Nina English.
A celebration service will be 10:00AM, at Bella Vista Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. The family will receive friends from 9:30AM till service time. An intimate burial service for the immediate family will take place at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, where he will be honored and interned as a Navy veteran.
