Obituary

Charley Lee Hardbarger, 96, of Springdale, Arkansas gained his angel wings Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Born June 17, 1930 in Avoca, Arkansas to John Hardbarger Jr. & Eliza Guyll Hardbarger. He was a lifetime resident of NW Arkansas, growing up working in the fields alongside his dad until he was old enough to join the service. At age 18, he enlisted in the US Army. After basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, he served in Germany until being sent to Korea. Where he served in the 17th Field Artillery. When his tour of duty ended, he re-enlisted the following day, continuing to serve a total of seven years. Until he was injured by a mortar round, for which he earned a Purple Heart. After the military, he married Jane Foster and had one daughter, Laura. He became a long-haul driver for over 40 years. During this time, he earned several awards for million miles of accident-free driving; something he was very proud of. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, George, Lois, Edith; and wife Jane.

He is survived by his loving partner of 23 years, Dorothy Whiteley; his daughter, Laura Simmons and David of Goodman, Missouri; grandsons, Jeremy Seward of Anderson, Missouri, Jason Seward and Nikki of Springdale, Arkansas; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
