Charlene Marie Roberts, born October 5, 1945, passed away on June 4, 2026, in Springdale, Arkansas.
Born and raised in Iowa, Charlene was the youngest of 3 children born to Arkle Martin and Helen DeYoung. She moved to Arkansas in 1970 where she met and married Steve Roberts, her husband of 53 years, on July 14, 1973. Together they built a life centered on hard work, faith, and family while owning and operating Rainbow Cleaners. Charlene was a very talented seamstress, often making custom clothes for people, performing complex alterations or making simple repairs. Charlene was known for her warm personality and wonderful sense of humor, but her greatest gift was her music. She was a member of the Patriots Quartet, traveling to many churches throughout the region, singing gospel hymns to their congregations and recording albums of her own musical arrangements of those classic hymns. Later she organized and lead Women's choruses and Children's choirs at Temple Baptist Church, while giving instruction in piano and organ. She was an active member of Caudle Avenue Baptist Church, playing organ on Sundays and holding an active role in VBS organization.

Charlene was preceded in death by her brother, Dwayne Martin; sister, Marilyn Carr; nieces, Kim Carr Power, and Cindy Harris and nephew Mark Carr. She is survived by her husband, Steve Roberts, of the home; daughters, Mandie Gatchel and partner Bryan Stagg, of Elm Springs, Arkansas, Katie Hopgood and Jeromy, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; grandchildren, Kyler Gatchel, Kira Hopgood, Izzy Hopgood, Micha Antley, Nieces, Michele Williams and husband Gary, Brenda Carr Burgess, Donene Carr; nephews, Randy Carr.

Charlene leaves behind a legacy of faith, music, and devotion to family and friends that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
