Avis Devon Hammond Sr of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021 in Fayetteville. He was born on August 14,1924. He was a decorated Army veteran of WWII and was awarded the Bronze Medal for heroic action. He was preceded in death by His wife Leticia Gomez de Hammond and his son Avis Devon Hammond Jr. The family would like to thank the Arkansas Veterans Home in Fayetteville for all of the wonderful care, attention and compassion given to him for the years that he was in their care.

Survivors include two daughters Cecilia Hammond, Sandra Reznicek and four sons Tony Hammond, Michael Hammond, John Hammond and Steven Hammond, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Private service will be in Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, Springdale, AR.
