IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice
Robbins
December 28, 1926 – June 14, 2023
Alice Lizibeth Robbins was born December 28, 1926 near Sonora, AR the youngest and last surviving child of eight born to Robert Franklin and Faner Lee James Ferriel. Alice passed away at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville, AR the age of 96 & 1/2 on Wednesday June 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband of nearly 50 years, Oscar Robbins and by siblings Austin, Leslie, Lawrence, Dale, and Mavin Ferriel, Lois Bohannon, and Loie Mae Mason. Alice began caring for her family at an early age. She was 13 when her father died. Her mother had one arm. Alice was amazed at all her mom could do on her own, including processing chickens for her family to eat. As her mother aged, Alice bought a house and moved her mom in with her and cared for her until she died. Alice resided in the Springdale area her entire life. She and her sister Lois worked at 'the garment factory' in Fayetteville at one time. Alice eventually began babysitting, taking in laundry and ironing, selling handmade crocheted goods, and reselling items bought during weekly visits to area yard sales. She regretted not keeping a list of all the children she took care of but fortunately, many never forgot her and stopped by to see her now and then. Alice loved the Lord and rarely missed Sunday church services for over 20 years at First Nazarene of Springdale and for nearly 33 years at Faith Freewill Baptist in Springdale. She often spoke of how this church honored the mission set forth in the Bible to care for widows and others in need.
She is survived by her son, Shannon and wife Sam of Fayetteville, grandchildren Amanda Derheim of Springdale, and Adam Derheim of Fayetteville… many nieces and nephews that she thought of and prayed for often, but rarely reached out because she didn't want to bother anyone.
Memorial Service will be at Faith In the Word Church, formerly Faith Freewill Baptist at the corner of E. Emma and Casteel in Springdale (just west of Monitor Road) Saturday June 24th at 10:30 AM.
